Construction of a municipal logistics centre for processing and drying fruit and berries has been fully completed in Salam-Alik village, located in the Salam-Alik Rural Municipality.
The project was implemented under the ARIS programme and the CASA-1000 project. Kanybek Apbasov, Head of the Uzgen District State Administration and Akim of the district, visited the site and reviewed the completed construction work.
The new facility is capable of receiving, processing and drying between 2 and 4 tonnes of fruit and berries per day. Fruit grown by local residents, as well as wild fruit and berries collected in the area, will be delivered to the centre.
The municipal logistics centre will purchase agricultural produce from local residents, process it and sell it as finished dried products.
The project will support the more efficient use of agricultural produce, reduce post-harvest losses and increase the added value of finished products.
The centre will also provide local residents with an additional source of income, help create new jobs and contribute to the economic development of the area.
